The Volkswagen ID. Buzz brings the iconic VW Bus into the electric age. This all-electric vehicle combines nostalgic design elements with modern technology, offering a unique driving experience. The ID. Buzz arrives at Canadian dealerships in late 2024 as a 2025 model, featuring a distinctive blend of retro aesthetics and contemporary features.
Availability and Manufacturing
Canadian Volkswagen dealers expect to receive the ID. Buzz in late 2024. The vehicle will launch with a special "1st Edition" trim, available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. Customers can choose from 5, 6, or 7-seat layouts to suit their needs.
Volkswagen will manufacture the ID. Buzz in Hanover, Germany. This European production emphasizes the vehicle's connection to its predecessor while ensuring high-quality craftsmanship.
Design and Interior Features
The ID. Buzz measures 4,962 mm in length, 1,985 mm in width, and 1,927 mm in height. These dimensions provide exceptional interior space, rivaling the Atlas Cross Sport in length and width. The vehicle's exterior design pays homage to the classic VW Bus with its oversized VW logo, short overhangs, and expansive greenhouse.
Interior configurations include six-seater (2/2/2) and seven-seater (2/3/2) options. With seats folded down, the ID. Buzz offers an impressive 4,120 L of cargo space, catering to various lifestyle needs.
Volkswagen has created three interior colour themes exclusive to the North American market. "Cognac" features rich brown leatherette seats with yellow piping and a washed wood-look dash. "Dune" offers a bright, coastal-inspired interior with light grey leatherette seats and clay-coloured accents. "Moonlight" presents a moody dark interior with dark brown leatherette seats, white piping, and blue door inserts.
The exterior colour palette includes Energetic Orange, Pomelo Yellow, Blue Charcoal, Mahi Green, Metro Silver, Cabana Blue, Indium Grey, and Deep Black Pearl. Several two-tone options pair these colours with a Candy White top.
Performance and Technology
The ID. Buzz comes in two drivetrain configurations. The rear-wheel drive (RWD) model delivers 282 horsepower, while the all-wheel drive (AWD) 4MOTION version produces 335 horsepower.
Both variants feature a high-voltage battery with a gross capacity of 91 kWh. The RWD model offers an estimated range of 377 km, and the AWD version provides 373 km on a full charge.
For charging, the ID. Buzz supports a maximum rate of 200 kW with direct current (DC). The vehicle comes standard with a 110V, 10A 6-metre charging cable, though it does not include a Level 2 home charger.
Standard technology features include a 12.9-inch infotainment display, a 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 30-colour ambient lighting, and Volkswagen's IQ.DRIVE advanced driver assistance system. The ID. Buzz also offers wireless phone charging and App-Connect functionality.
Pricing and Trim Levels
Volkswagen offers two models of the ID. Buzz for the Canadian market. The 1st Edition RWD starts at an MSRP of $77,495, while the 1st Edition 4MOTION AWD begins at $82,995.
Both trims come well-equipped with 20-inch "Stockton" aluminum-alloy wheels, LED headlights with Adaptive Front-lighting System, three-zone climate control, and a 700-watt harman/kardon sound system with 14 speakers.
The 4MOTION model includes dual centre row Captain's chairs for added comfort. Optional features include a two-tone exterior colour scheme for $1,500 and an electrochromic panoramic glass roof for an additional $2,000.
The ID. Buzz incorporates advanced driver-assistance technologies such as Park Assist Plus with Memory Parking, Dynamic Road Sign Display, and Light Assist. The Easy Open and Close function on the dual power-sliding rear doors and tailgate enhances accessibility.
The 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz merges the charm of the classic VW Bus with the benefits of electric mobility. Its spacious interior, customizable design options, and advanced technology features cater to a wide range of preferences.
